Re: Welding Cast Iron

I have questions to yours ? Do you have a 200/250 ? or a 240/300 Truck ? since we have both here. picture/drawings, always good. From made up Turbo Manifolds i have seen. The amount of steel flange welded to cast manifold, doesnt seem to be an issue. Concider mounting Turbo to engine & running p...

Re: pictures of my exhaust manifolds & air cleaner

Rear exhaust manifold is carb. type, with front 3 ports cut off. steel plate welded on with stainless steel rod. working heat riser. Front is Fuel Inj. front manifold. Air cleaner is 90? Dodge Truck V6, with dual Ford snorkels. sucking hot air off exhaust manifolds. Its not pretty, but fits carb. ni...

Re: what i have in my 300-6 & Split Ex. Manifolds

My 390 Holley is new outa the box, Dont know whats inside. The part # is for the Offy DP set up, i know that. Did change squirter to #37 Back in the 80s, used to build carbs for Drag Racers. Slap it on & try it, might need work ? Jetting? close? might need 2-3 sizes bigger with Headers. Your pum...

Re: Welding Cast Iron

Im not a Pro welder, but i have done a lot of stick welding. Have repaired more than a few exhaust manifolds. I like using Stainless steel rod, ( makes ya look good) works great for welding steel to cast iron. Yes on the pre-heat, i use my cutting torch. In the dark, it would be a slight glow at mos...

Re: Advice for my first 300 six

Please look @ my post ( My Engine build & Split exhaust manifolds ). It all works very good up to 3800- 4000 ? RPMs. To save cash, i think a stock intake & an adapter. would work ok with your 2 hole Ford carb. Camshaft ? I like what i got, but might go a little bigger. Lot of good cams to ch...

Re: Ford 300 Build-up for towing & highway cruising

I like all your ideas on build. think your spot on. I think an Offy C or a Clifford intake would work on your truck, IF you made a divider for it. in the middle of the plenum, all the way up close to carb. 2 or small 4 V carb. Have not done it on a 300 - 6, but did do it on a 4 cyl. Mercruiser boat....

Re: what i have in my 300-6 & Split Ex. Manifolds

Thank you Lucky Man, you nailed it ! As far as an engine Heater, when its below zero here in Nebr. I love em. about the rear manifold not flowing as well as the F. I. front? After smoothing around inside both, i think the difference is nil. There is a lot of open area @ heat riser. And now it only h...

Re: Rhoads lifters anyone?

They do work, but i agree with FTF. Advance the cam timing, should lower your power band by 500 to 800 RPMS
