I suppose it sounds like a lot of work for the trouble but if we want a lower first gear in it while maintaining the highway capabaility and the swap is relatively straightforward then a T18/T19/NP435 trans swap is not that much trouble really. If it costs us $1200 and 40 hours then you are right. B...

Remembering of course my original reply--the truck is a 2WD shortbed used primarily for driving but with 1st definitely seeming geared a little high for starting up a sloping driveway into traffic with a trailer.on the weekends when it is used to haul the mower around....It would seem the T-18 is st...

I believe rearend is a 3.00:1 if I recall correctly. SO it looks like the goal here is to find a 2WD T-19 to make things simple? Tires on it are essentially stock and as far as towing--the load is usually very light--a single axle 10-12ft trailer with a rider mower, blower, weedeater, etc. Probably ...

4-spd tranny in F100 w/300ci...

Am going to look at a couple of 4-speeds tomorrow --wanting to swap out the column 3-spd in sons F100 to flor shift/top-loader style 4-spd. We DON'T want to end up with similar gears as 3-spd plus a "granny" as first--would prefer to get a true 4-spd. with better spaced ratios. He has a hard time ri...

Chance for a free 240

I have the opportunity to get a complete 240(inc int/carb/exh mani--all complete) from a 67 F100 that was removed about 25 years ago and set in the corner of a clean dry garage-- it also comes with a 4spd tranny (was not bolted to the 240 but was on a o mid 70's 351--not sure if C/M/W) --all had @75...

Chevy Rockers on '77 F100

Thinking about putting Chevy RA's on F100--The FAQ said I need pedestal rockers and they can be found on "84 and older" But then further reading seemed to indicate they were on 85 and newer--plus I was a little confused on which engines had which size of studs--SO what is the verdict for my son's 19...

I guess we're looking for a little more tugging power in 1st couple gears--the top gear is good with rearend as is on hwy--ibut ts a little tough starting on hills when pulling even a relatively light trailer the jump from 2nd to 3rd is pretty huge! Are the CR T-19 tagged as such on the tranny cases...

Tranny question

Hey folks--love your forum--I am a newbie to fordsix but have had a lot of fords over the years. I had a 68 SWB F-100 with a frame-off resto about 15 yeARS AGO It had a 240ci with 3sp coulmn shift. Loved it wished I kept it! Now my 14 year old son is following in dad's footsteps and he has bought a ...
