Re: Motor smoking after head gasket replacement

Have you corrected the head gasket leak? How long after installing the head gasket did it start smoking? What color is the smoke, white, blue, black? Did you change the oil afterwards and how much coolant was in it? Did it " milkshake" in the engine? Sorry for all of the questions but the ...

Rocker Shaft Torque Sequence

Howdy, I was reviewing my Ford shop manual in perpetration for the cylinder head installation on our 170 and came across a question. Did you do your compression test wet or dry? I still think you should try to get it running before tearing anything down. A wet compression test will help you at least see if your culprit is rings or valves on your low cylinders.

I had a suspicion that the noise would be there after the belt was removed. If it is worse under load and you have oil pressure, the next thing I would do is remove the spark plug wires one at a time and see if the noise changes. By doing this you are trying to isolate a particular cylinder. I am be...

Are 170 and 200 connecting rods interchangeable? Looking at the specs on CI the 200 has a longer stroke than the 170. Is this due to wrist pin location on the 200 pistons or are the rods different?
