Re: EFI swap

well I got my ECM and engine wiring harness out of the donor truck today. took some notes and pictures. Once I removed the stuff i won't need it seems fairly simple. I still wonder what the point of the air pump and aux. air pump blowing into the head and on the injectors is. It is possible to remov...

Re: heaviest you've towed with a 300.

I hauled a dead kubota four wheel drive tractor with the loader on the ground down a gravel path last Thursday. Unsure of weight, but my truck runs 35 inch with 3.55 ratios and a c6 with a np 205, so the gearing isn't low at all. The engine has 400 000 and change kms on it. I put it in low, locked b...

Re: Transfer Case and Clutch questions

the 205 case can be easily modified for twin stick allowing you to operate the front and rear output independent of each other and putting another shifter in the cab. The hydraulic clutch also does not require freeplay adjustment just bleed and run.

Re: S10 T-5 Shifter location

not really a ford thing, but related to t5 shifter location: I put a s10 2.8 v6 and a t5 in a chevette fifteen years ago. I used the main case from the s10 t5 and the tail stock and output from a chevette t5 to get the shifter in the right spot and use the stock crossmember and drive shaft. The actu...

Re: 1994 300 rocker arm swap

wow, i'm learning more about fuel injection in a thread titled "rocker arm swap" than on the one titled "EFI swap". keep the discussion going guys. It is helping me understand the benefits and limits of the EFI system on these fords.

Re: Ford AOD Non Electronic Transmissions

Just a thought: why not use the c6 that is already in the van which is virtually indestructible and re gear the rear for fuel economy? I have used c6 trannies behind a L6 that were originally behind a 351 windsor (including the TC)
Or for best mpg convert to manual with a five speed.

Re: EFI swap

Finally was warm enough today to work outside so after I cleared the driveway I pushed the EFI parts truck into the shop. This way I should be able to spend some time on this swap idea.https://www.fordsix.com/img/picture.php?/2140/category/76 I will very likely have Questions as I go. The first one ...

Re: How did you hear about FordSix

did a google search for performance upgrades for ford 300 L6, lurked for a bit then joined. I can't wait till I tear into one of my trucks to get a chance to put all your combined knowledge into use. My father-in-law won't be able to harass me for selling a good 351w and putting the six in my truck....

Re: Testing the waters, potential for new cast aluminum valve cover.

welded ones wouldn't crack if they were not perfectly flat. I need to practice with my tig then I can make one of these and maybe a pan for my c6 too.

would .125" be thick enough? 6061 a "good grade"?

Re: New project. 1985 F150 "Daily Driver"

I have an 83 with the 4 spd od aluminum toploader tranny. It has 3.55 gears in an 8.8 axle. It will smoke the boots off in first and chirp second but there is a huge space in the gearing between 2nd and 3rd. (like driving a five speed without a 3rd gear) Fourth (od) gets me doing over 100 km/h (60is...

Re: performance parts for an off road build

need to spin tires to clear treads, so 4-5000 rpm would be helpful. Depends on mud type, around here it is sticky clay. Sandy loam would need much lower rpms or you just dig yourself in.

that would be nice if I can find one. I do have a plasma cutter and a wide selection of welders. That project is still a ways off.

Re: EFI swap

Sounds like the cloyes set is no longer being produced bassed on other posts in this forum. I might have to try to get one quick before they are all gone. If it is hard to get in the U.S. it should be near impossible to get in Canada. My t case is a np 205 not a 208. I have run into issues with diff...

Re: EFI swap

Thanks for the input. I have a complete truck for parts that ran when parked but the body and frame have major issues. It has a shiny new gas tank and sending unit and there was an old clutch slave cylinder in the box when I bought it two years ago for $400. It ran, sounded good and drove and stoppe...

EFI swap

I have a 90 efi parts truck and I was considering using the efi in my 85/78 150 bronco. I want to do this because the 85's engine is tired and also to try to avoid problems with the carb in bumpy and off camber off road conditions. My question is will I be able to use the efi system without the evap...

I can try to find out sometime, but not till the snow here melts. I remember the thing was an engine with a big hydraulic pump and the axle was turned by hydraulics.

Re: THE 240 / 300 WHERE ELSE WERE THEY USED? OTHER APPLICATIONS

A local tractor parts/repair place has two old cherry harvesters that run a big ford inline and a nine inch rear end. Not sure if they are 300 or 240, next time i'm there and they aren't buried in snow I will take a few pictures. I have been trying to buy one off him....
