i don't know the ratio of the first gear of the two speed automatic,but im sure the c4 will greatly increase your acceleration.

theres one available locally for 150 dollars.is this a good buy for a ford six?its assembled and in an aluminum case.its flashed with msns-e.it comes with a harness.im new to ms and have no idea what all this means.

i don't know,but i drilled and tapped new holes in my 1978 head to use my 60s carb.the cast iron was really easy to drill.

If you have an engine stand, I'd put her on there and pull some parts off (like head, pan etc) and look things over carefully before I tried to put it in a vehicle. You could get fancy and plastiguage the rod bearings and mains as well I suppose.[/quote] good idea.that way with new gaskets and seals...

the earlier trans had a unsynchronized first gear.the trans that came in my 62 is a later version of ones from the fifties.

i went to the local pull a part today to look for one.they only had two cars in the right year range,an 80 granada with a 250 and a maverick with no drivetrain.i can't use a manual because its a mid engine van.i think an updated a4ld should hold up to my slightly modded 170.

there was a discussion in the transmission section that one could take a c3 bellhousing and modify it to bolt to a a4ld auto overdrive transmission.the a4ld is a later version of the c3.they took the c3 and added a planetary to add overdrive.im trying to find a c3 bellhousing to try this.

8) when installing a new pan gasket, make sure the pan rail on the transmission is clean and smooth. do not use sealant on the pan gasket as it can get into the valve body and create other problems. i would use a good quality rubber gasket and a cast aluminum oil pan since they have a stiffer pan r...

[A Carter YF from a early 80s pickup with a 300 six may be an option, but I don't know what they are rated at. I can tell you that they are taller.

my 75 250 maverick engine came with the carter yf.[which i would sell]

The problem, of course, is that nobody makes an adapter plate to allow people to bolt commonly-available small block V8 automatic transmissions to the back of the 200 cubic inch sixes. Imagine how nice it would be to be able to bolt an Ford AOD or even a GM 700R4 behind a built 200 in an early Falc...

i still wish someone in the trans repair field would look to see if a c3 belhousing could be modified to fit an A4LD.after all an A4LD is a modified c3.

I read somewhere, or heard, that the 8.8's tend to be more fuel/power efficient when compared to the same geared 8" or 9". I'm wondering how true that is?

the angle on a nine inch between the ring and pinion supposedly burns up hp.

check the distributer cap to see if its burnt .also check the points.lack of rpm is usually electrical.

if it has the tube coming out of the drivers side front of the engine going towards the ground it has no pvc valve.

several fords from the fifties and sixties had a three speed with an electric planetary overdrive.i have several.the problem is that they use an electric solinoid that go bad and are hard to find.ive found one company that sales new ones for one type for 265 dollars apiece.the trans have the v8 type...
