After reading about an XF falcon with standard computer running 13.5 sec 1/4s i want to know about what others have seen from the efi xf with standard computer??

Another person has an xe with eecIV computer. This car was rebuilt and put togther by Jim Mock with a 242 cam (from wade), 9.6 compression, 25lb injectors, port matched intake, port & polish, k&N filter, HM extractors and 2.5 inch exhuast. VANE meter was adjusted on a dyno which recorded 128rwkw. NICE

This is about 200fwhp (?) and looks stock. Im thinking this will always show up my crossflow with a 500 holley due to more torque and better general manners like fuel consumption, cold start etc.

Im guessing with a 3000lb xf this would pull 14 flat even lower quarters.

These above figures are alot higher than the 180hp i have heard people talk about before in which the computer can take

Could 220hp be had?

Fordmuscle 83.
From what Ive seen a cam of about 204-214 at 50 in a Crossflow with a few other mods like extraction ect and 500 holley a 195 HP (not rear) is not difficult to obtain. And that at around 4500 rpm which is nice for a 250.
Others may disagree but from what Ive seen if you increase the duration by another 10 degrees which usually equals about another 350-400 rpm in a 250 (not 500rpm) you might get around 210 hp maybe a bit more or less depends.
From the dynoe comparisons Ive looked at increase in lift proportionatly with duration to about 10 deg doesnt always make that much difference to the amount of peak hp (although 15hp still is OK). Its more to do with the head design ect (eg I believe the Crossflow is definitely more powerful that a 2V head).
A 500 Holley on a Crossflow rather than on a 2V should also be better for lower rpm drivability because the smaller intake runners on a Crossflow help with the velocity of the mixture into the engine.
Id be pushing to get 185 hp out of my 2V with my new cam with 215-17 dur if Im lucky. About 20 hp less than similar in a Crossflow based on the many estimates Ive made.
I may yet proove myself wrong. Ill have to wait and see.
Good luck with yours.
Tim.

Hey,

Was that in a article or something. If you have a copy i would love to have a read.

Cheers

No article on the 13.5 sec xf falcon.

It seems the EECIV (compared to bosch) is the version used to get the big numbers.

Im wondering if the car was builtup with a 2800-3000 stall would you be able to use a big cam with high lift as xecute has metioned before on here that under 3 grand is injection pulsed at certain crank angles and a big cam will run like crap.

The above guy at the drag strip told me he used to rev it to 3000rpm in N and slam it into D when the light went green. Im not sure what this does in an auto as ive never had one but maybe he was getting around that idle-3000 area so the cam could do its job.

This car also had a short runner custom inlet manifold. Would this produce more peak HP and less low prm torque?

I will soon by dynoing my old bucket of bolts-it has stock efi but have 16deg of base advance + ported head + half decent exhaust. Runs like a busted arse on 91 octane but loves optimax (or equiv). I suspect that the only way mine would run a 14 is being towed behind a top fueller......

Something I forget to add... Does ANYBODY do a 'hot chip' for XF ULP EFI??? Otherwise I might have to do one myself if I get the time!
