Alright, the 2 spd gave up in my Comet and I had bought a T5 5 spd to replace it with. But, I am working on yet another project, a 1926 Olds sedan with a Ford 300 inline! So the Comet is going to the wifey. She drives in the city and so the conversion tables have changed to replacing the aged 2 spd Merc-O-Matic with a later model slush box. But which one? Any opinions and help would be greatly appreciated! C4, FMX, AOD. Do I have any other choices?

Thanks,
Duane

C4 would be my choice. It's lighter than the FMX, has a removable
bellhousing, parts are readily available( including cross member
to mount it in that car), will have less parasitic drag on motor, etc..
The AOD, unfortunately, has a one piece case/bellhousing and though
I believe nothing is imposible, it would require major engineering.

But I think someone on the board was working on it :?:

Thanks Ron, I have been searching the archives too! I'll be watching!

Hi Duane!

It seems like everyone wants to get rid of 144 and 170 motors. I bet you could find one, with the trans, for free or close to it if you start looking around. I'll be pulling my 170 this summer, but it has a 3 spd.
