Please bare with me. I will try to add pictures of the other included parts that aren't featured in pictures yet. So, if at all interested, please check in every once and awhile or ask for the pictures you want to see and I will try to expedite the process. We are having a lot of trees removed and are trying to get things on our property moved out of the way so I am pretty busy right now. Well here goes:

I am looking to sell my first 1966 Mustang project. I recently acquired a GT project and have turned my focus toward the GT. Unfortunately, I do not have the time, money, or space for both so the GT has taken priority.

The car that I am selling is fairly rusty and does need a lot of work but the 250ci ran before I pulled the distributor. The distributor was put back on but was not timed, just eyeballed so the engine needs some adjustments (ignition & idle primarily) and the '72 C4 transmission seems okay as well but the shift linkage need to be adjusted. It was originally a Wimbleton White/Aqua 200ci powered car with a 3-speed manual transmission. It needs a new cowl and the roof appears like it has been cut off and poorly reattached. I started welding it up but stopped thinking that it might be a good candidate for a fastback conversion considering it will need a new trunk lid as well. NOTE: PARTS FEATURED IN THE BACKGROUND OF THESE PICTURES ARE NOT NECESSARILY INCLUDED. IF PART IS INCLUDED, A SEPARATE PICTURE OF THE PART WILL BE ATTACHED.

I have a lot of new parts that will be included as well as some small parts that won't be included in pictures but will go as well. The Mustang is missing many exterior parts that I needed for my GT so it is pretty bare but the whole drivetrain is still there. I have some brand new floor pans for the entire cab, a complete rebuild kit for the front and rear, front drums, hubs, front studs, dust caps, the carburetor has been completely cleaned and rebuilt, I have brand new American Racing Outlaw II rims for it, a complete engine gasket set, halogen headlights (used but still work), L6 gauge feed wiring harness, L6 alternator wiring harness, new 14" air cleaner for 1v carb, a replacement alternator off of a 289ci, subframe connectors, quarter trim panels (one of which will need new sheet metal welded to the bottom), a couple of somewhat damaged doors if the buyer wants them (only have pics of driver's side door at the moment), a horn button with some worn chrome, as well as the rims that I bought it with (3 of which are numbers matching).

Will need tires to roll. I can hang the doors on it for ease of transport if necessary. Will need to bring a battery if you want to crank it. It cranked before the battery died (alternator issue). It should at least crank with a battery but probably won't run smoothly, but you can the buyer can see what they think.

Mileage is unknown. The engine was swapped by a previous owner. The swap was completed using the original 200ci motor mounts so the engine sits kinda high in the engine compartment. Custom mounts can be had for a reasonable price from fellow member CoupeBoy. I recommend you contact him for an estimate if you are interested.

THE NEW PARTS ARE WORTH MORE THAN $1,800 ALONE. I'M ONLY CHARGING $1,700 FOR THE CAR, DRIVETRAIN, SUSPENSION, AND ALL OF THE OTHER MISCELLANEOUS PARTS. ASKING FOR $3,500 BUT WILL CONSIDER REASONABLE OFFERS.

Will include aqua seat covers, aqua carpet, aqua headliner, aqua sun visors, aqua door panels, and aqua armrest pads for an extra $1,000 if you are planning a restoration.

Feel free to DM me any questions you may have.

I’m surprised nobody’s showing interest too. It seems like a lot of car for not a lot of money. It’s obviously not turn-key but for the money it seems like a very inexpensive start.

I was hoping to find a buyer specifically on this forum that would want to keep the 250ci instead of junking it for a V8. I figured my best chance to find someone interested in building a Falcon 6 was on here but maybe not.

It unfortunately would get expensive quick with the quarters, roof, cowl, floor, trunk floor and radiator support needing fixing.

I see how it would look that way to some. If the individual looking to buy it didn't know how to replace the floor pans, it could get expensive. But I have a complete new floor pan that is included in the deal. A replacement radiator support costs next to nothing and anybody who has any little bit of welding experience can do that. The quarters and roof could either be patched, replaced, or this car could be used for a fastback conversion. The trunk could be patched easily with hardware store sheet metal or it could be cut away and tubbed.
If my math is correct, I legit didn't factor in any amount for the unibody itself into the price. I factored the suspension, drivetrain, and the new parts (most of which I used the sale price that I payed for them).

First things first... There is no doubt that it is a project but... In my experience, half the work is identifying and exposing the issues and there is no escaping what needs to be done if someone is up to the challenge. $1700 just isn't a lot of money for what I'm seeing.

Full disclosure: When I was 12, my dad bought a rusty old MGB GT + a parts car and for the next two years he had me assisting his concourse winner. Dude entered it in the 1979 PNE Car Show in Vancouver Canada and took first prize in the concourse class. Since then, I haven't been particularly put off by anything mechanical, on 2 or 4 wheels.

Regarding the actual work, there are so many manufacturers out there who provide new metal and today's Mig/Tig welders are so much cleaner and faster and easier than the oxy acetylene rigs I grew up on, plus we have other options for repair now.

For the cowl, I'd buy new metal, remove the old cowl top and bottom and then tack/weld, panelbond and seam seal it; faster and way better finished product. For the roof, trunk and quarters, I'd need to price out what it would cost for a conversion vs stay as a coupe. I'd reach out to MrGonein60 on YouTube and get his opinion on the best direction to go. He's made a career in restoration and conversions and has it down to a fine art.

That's all just spitballing but if I were in the area and looking for a start project, this seems like a decent place to start.
