2 barrel help request

Just put the stovebolt adaptor and H/W on the Comet project (Worked D7 head on C8 170). It started right up and runs well through the primary range, even idles nicely. When I drive it, it accelerates well until the second barrel opens. As soon as the second barrel starts to open the engine just dies. As soon as I back off it will run good until throttle passes through to second barrel and then it dies again. It does not backfire or cough no gas smell.
Ran fine today with the old YF before installing H/W, ran out time before work today to troubleshoot - anyone got a clue on problem or how to troubleshoot?.

sounds like the sec side is plugged maybe? what size jets are in it?

Secondary side jet(s) maybe plugged is a good start. I haven't opened it up yet how do you get to it. I got it from Tom Langdon's Stovebolt-6's. I had asked about buying "typical" jets and a few up or down from that but Tom Langdon said put it in , try it and then see what it may need. He stressed there are no "magic" jet numbers (sizes). Any hints on jet sizing and availability. It actually starts and runs well until the secondary opens - then stumbles and cuts out without backfiring or seeming to be too rich.
I will probably open it up and see what's there. Any disassembly instructions or sites with H/W "exploded view" pics available?.
