8) Has anyone ever milled the rocker shaft bosses of and tried to set up V - 8 type roller rocker arms? The oil galleries would have to be modified to oil the rockers, etc.

FastRonald,

Nope, I've never heard of it being done.

Why are you thinking you want to do this? Cheaper roller rocker arms? Getting the rockers mounted would be possible, but VERY expensive. Much more than shaft mounted rockers.

More HP? I don't think you could/would make more HP with the V/8 stuff than the I/6 stuff. You can get roller rockers in 1.5 and in 1.6 hi-lift ratio.

Just 'cuz? I like curb appeal as much as the next guy, but your rockers are hidden under the valve coves. Nobody would see them. Chevy and small block Ford guys would be more impressed if you told them you modified it to be a SHAFT rocker arm setup to withstand the high revs. It is much cheaper to just lie.

If you persue this idea, think about oiling the rockers with a spray bar. Attach a tube to the top of the inside of the valve cover with 12 strategically placed hoes to spray the rockers. Drill a hole through the valve cover to run the tube out, and attach an oil pressure line to the tube from where the Oil Pressure guage hooks up to the block.

I have seen systems similar to this for when the 144's and 170's clogged the oil passage in the block.

Good Luck.
