223 - Fordomatic - Single Barrel Carb - NO DASHPOT

Hello,

I am rebuilding a 1955 Ford Fairlane equipped with a I6 223 and a Fordomatic. I am surprized to not have a dashpot with the Holley single barrel carb !

Is not normal?

Ford installed dashpots on all Ford-O-Matic equipped cars as an anti-stall device. Cars equipped with manual transmissions were not equipped with a dashpot.

My '55 Courier station wagon has the 223/Ford-O-Matic setup. The Holley 1bbl carb has a dashpot and actuator assembly. The dashpot is the same one used on the y-block engines and is still available new. The actuator on the other hand only fits certain carbs similar to the Holley 1904 style. I've only seen two of these actuators in my lifetime, including the one I have so I guess theyre pretty rare now. paste link below into your web browser to see a illustration of one of the variations of the dashpot actuator.
