250 in 65 mustang - Lower Radiator Hose

Does anyone know what lower radiator hose fit the 250 water pump but the 65 mustang radiator? For years I've had 2 hoses clamped together but now that its finally dry rotted I'd like to replace it with a single hose. The 250 tech article says to use a maverick hose but it doesn't say what year. I've also rummaged through autozoo's selection and didn't find anything.

Who else is running this configuration? What did you use?

I would be surprised if you couldn't go to an autoparts store and have them help you out. they might have one on hand that would work out great but if they don't it would take less time to order

The problem is its a 1 3/4" fitting on the water pump and a 1 1/4" fitting on the radiator. Thats not very standard at all. I'll try going to a real parts store instead of autozoo but I'm not optimistic.

Go to any good radiator shop as ask for the adapter to fit a 1 1/2" hose to a 1 1/4" outlet. Then use a 250 lower hose.

Or, you could just cut off 2" of the original 200 hose, slip it over the outlet and slide the 250 hose over that.

OR, the ideal is to take you 200 radiator to a shop and have both upper inlet and lower outlet replaced with the correct 250 size.

I'd be floored if a cookie cutter parts store clerk could find you a hose.

I worked (and practically lived) in a parts store while I had a 250 in my '68. I never did find a proper hose even taking the Gates catalog home. I used 2 hoses with some steel "wall piping" connecting them.

If you ever find that magic hose, please post the p/n.

Thanks for the replies. Now I can stop wasting my time looking for that perfect hose. The steel "wall piping" is what I'm using now. I'm getting ready to move my radiator back a little to fit an electric fan so I'll have to cut a little of my upper hose off anyway. That will give me the 2" I need to fit a 250 hose.

That's what I did and got it from a quality parts store not your Kragen's or AutoZoo.

Good luck!
