On jaharnes 250 Ranchero, he uses a Lokar AOD kicdown which eliminates the need to use the lower kickdown bolt hole on Holley, Autolite and Motorcraft 2-bbl and 4-bbl carbs. The "low down throttle arm on these carburetors and the proximity to the valve cover is always something of a challenge"

In fact, three guys on our site 62Ranchero200 , Luke76 , jahearne have taken care of this by using the Lokar kit.

This sticky viewtopic.php?t=54405
covers this loosely, but a most of us here don't use the proper C4 kicdown linkage the way Ford intended and are just happy to manually shift there C4 auto, and so only jaharnes is effectively operative.

What Lokar kit is this exactly in the Summit cataloge, and will it work okay with a 1970 Mustang throttle cable a forward mounted 4412 500 cfm Holley and C4? The rocker cover is the pinch point on it, and I know this kit will solve the problem best but need more details.

I have used a very similar kit from the European Cologne V6's with DGAS or Solex 2-bbl carb when used with a C3, and they just use one throttle linkage, and run the kidown off a secondary rocker like this. So I'm totally used to the kit, but in need to know that the 36 inch throttle cable and 26 inch kickdown kit comes with

Mike listed one, but I'm not sure what the part number is

All the other kits use the bottom link, which doesn't have the space on a six cylinder Ford.

I don't want this one...its the one all the V8 guys use

jaharnes, is your kit Lokar-Ford-AOD-24-Throttle-Kickdown-Cable-Kits-KD-2AODHT and DP-1000HT?

I'm turning my carb around float bowel forward, and using the Lokar linkage exactly as yours, but with the linkage 90 degrees around like these below

The following shows what I've done. The kit I want to use is yours, with the bottom linkage bent back like Kenneths to clear the rocker cover, then linked with the long rod, and then back to your set up. That gives me a lot of reduced height, and allows me to shave down the air horn, low mount the air cleaner and keep it all under the hood for a 70 Mustang 250, and a 250 engined Fox Mustang.

Hey, I'm following your progress with great interest.
Other than that, I have nothing to add, just hate to see you have conversations by yourself... :P

Sorry for the delay... I just happen to be in the neighborhood. The Lokar cable is just the AOD Ford carburetor cable kit by itself, KDP-2AODHT only black plastic instead of stainless. The throttle cable is from a 1970 Mustang 250, which was difficult to find; got it on eBay. The 302 throttle cable is too short and the 250 throttle cable is a bit too long, but it works just fine with a repo 1970 Mustang accelerator bracket/pedal that looks real close to the original 1967 pedal. It looks like the Lokar dual pak should to the trick. The fact that it is readily available makes it a bonus.

I'm still working on this....back in 1993, I found the Chevy Vega/Ford Pinto had to run a 90 degree link anytime a 4150 or 4160 4-bbl 390 cfm carb was added. There was a Mini Muscle #6299 4-bbl link made for the Holley 390. My old Cologne V6 Cortina ran a European Granada kickdown for a C3 auto, and its the same as the Lokar set up. There is also an electric kickdown Ford used in A4LDe which can eliminate the need for a physical kickdown.

Info has to be translated from Spanish, but its here http://sierraautomatico.wordpress.com/5 ... de-fallas/

Here is a version of the set up from http://www.mustangii.net/forums/topic.a ... C_ID=14501

I'm going to use the stock Fox body throttle cable, but also trial the Lokar.

The issue is that the 350 and 500 cfm 2305 Holley would have been the ideal carb to use, but it isn't made any more, and its better to use stock linkages, so que the Pinto 4-bbl 390 and the Lokar. Each are able to run an AOD.
