power steering bracket and pump.
for my bracket , i ran it for a very long time with no support to the head.
then just recently out of a sense of remorse built an ugly v shaped bracket that attaches to the existing threaded bosses on the head with a V notch cut to access the second spark plug. ugly servicable, and will likely work just fine. i use a CII also but in the past when i had hydroboost, used a vickers pump that worked just fine in that hole too.
vickers is cool if you have hydro boost steering obviously

Regarding the power steering bracket. I do plan to run a serpentine belt and factory bracket if I can. I’m still looking for another Saginaw set up off an ecoline.

I am going to see if welding a treaded bung to the head is feasible after every thing is mocked up.

Maybe I should brush up on pumps. What’s a CII and vickers?

It took two attempts but I think this will work. The first one tacked up a 1/16th too tall and warped by 3/8”. The ticket was to tack the ends, then bolt the cover to the heads before putting a tack in each side.

I have a lot to learn with this welder.

The slots in the head should be ok as is.
Check the pushrod clearance to the inside of the pushrod slot at full lift and no lift.
if the pushrod looks like it's touching then just a little relief with a round file will work.

Are you going to use a thick wall 5/16 pushrod?

Which camshaft?

I haven’t put much thought about pushrods. Its sounds like a good move. Is there a down side?

I still need to call Bullet and get their opinion. The machinist says he needs another four weeks with the head. He did say the bore size came out to 4.050. After pistons are ordered he will fine tune the bore to match.

No downside.
The stock pushrods are barely .060" wall thickness and bend easily.
Aftermarket pushrods come in .080" to .118" wall thickness.

Except added weight, but if you are not building a "revver" that is inconsequential. If you were building a revver then 3/8" pushrods offer a better strength-to-weight ratio.

Just talked to a guy over at Bullet. He thought that the H 283/294 lobe would work well on a 108 LSA. 1.75 ratio rockers wouldn’t be a problem. Single pattern is probably fine.

That would be a 283 seat/ 216 @ 0.050, .294 lift at lobe.

Thoughts?

That will work.
The .050" duration is 216 which is right about where we were looking.
The valve lift will be .514" using the 1.75 ratio rocker arm.

The tighter 108 LSA works well with a header and will give you a strong low to midrange power.
The idle will lope some but you will have very good torque off idle.

You are looking at an 8.8 compression ratio for 87 octane pump gas.

That particular lobe has a very gentle opening and closing ramp.

The piston will need a 25 cc dish which is about .190" deep.
I don't see a problem but Racetec will let you know.
If they need more piston crown you can shorten the balancing tabs above the connecting rod small end

Just placed a order with Bullet cams. Lead time is currently 5-6 weeks. $225 for the cam and $75 for a set of Johnson hi lift lifters.

We stuck with the 283/216, 283/216, .294 lift on a 108 LSA. He wants the intake lobe center to be 104-105 degrees.

What is a hi lift lifter?

I had assumed it was just what they named their lifters. I said “can you add a set of recommended lifters to this order?” He replied “Sure, these Johnson lifters are great.”

After looking around, they look like an oem replacement lifter. Nothing fancy about their design. The price point leads me to this is true.
