I'm new here, and need to read a lot of stuff!! However, I seek info on building a High Performance engine from a 300 EFI six that I have. As I understand it the Valves are shaded it induce a swirl into the combustion chamber to promote improved combustion. Where do we go from here?? I would like to massage 300 - 400 HP out of this engine....if possible without a lot of custom (expensive) machine work. Would like to run multiple carburettors, for effect!! Anyone have any ideas??

if i understand it correctly, it's not really the valve design, it's the chamber design, if you look at one it has a sort of ridge so when the piston pushes the AF into the chamber it creates the turbulence
the ridge is basically just valve shrouding

300HP is semi-easily obtainable

turbo? turbo would help muchly

With the goal of 300-400 hp with or without the EFI I'd switch to a regular carbed head. The RPM required for that kind of power does not match well with the efi head. other than the extra bolt hole which aren't that big of a deal the chamber is the only difference.
