Application is a 66 mustang vert
Been talked to the local yards to find a 70's mustang or pinto air cleaner to modify as discussed in the threads, with no success.
Could use aftermarket setups, but trying to keep somewhat stock appearance if possible.
Can anyone steer me to a source for the 70's vintage mustang or pinto air cleaners? My MN junkyards just don't keep this stuff around.

You should also ask for a 78 and up 4cyl Fairmont or Zephyr, Monarch, Granada, Mustang Capri Bobcat...
I have two, and they both came with carbs underneath.

psst!

Take a look at this:

Air filter base available separately part no. 99010-457

"Snorkel housing base 22 [See the illustration below.] is also designed for use with standard 51/8â€￾ standard after-market performance filter."

See part 22 in the image above? That's apparently available separately.

I think that base would allow you to use a standard air cleaner housing of the sort commonly used on 4 barrel carbs. I bet you can find a factory air cleaner from a V8 powered car to work for you if that's the case. A little paint, a reproduction "200 cubic inch" sticker and it'll have that factory look!

:)

I saw somewhere where a guy took the base of the HW and the base of the stock one and cut the bottom out of the stock one out and attached the HW base to it then you could run the stock air filter and stock top.

excellent, thanks to all. Did find a "old ford" junkyard about 50 miles from here. Also like the idea of fabbing the base. These would be great posts to add to the HW 5200 sticky.
