5200 with adapter or without

I have a question (dah).

I've decided to purchase a 5200 from Stovebolt to replace my YF. My question is in reference to fuel/air flow. How much better would it be for me to mount the carburetor directly to the log than say using an adapter? What restrictions am I looking at? I know it's better for a direct mount but I'm just curious as to how much better.

Also, while I'm no this subject, can someone post an illustration of the 5200's base shape or just some dimensions? I need to fabricate a base plate for a direct fit.

If you are going to attach directly to the log you will have to do some machining. The 5200 is a progressive two barrel and the footprint is at least twice that of the stock carb.

Do a search for 2100 or head mods. There are examples of modifications to the log that installs the Autolite two barrel, which has a larger footprint than the 5200.

Good luck, Ric.

I know about the machining, I'm just looking for the 5200's footprint (guess I should have made that clearer - need more coffee!).

I have the dimensions from a manifold designed for that carb (DFV, DGV). Send me an email address that I can attach a word document to.

Ric.
