First off, I have been at this for a week now and really need help here. I have an untouched 62 with 170 and 3 speed manual. I have 8.5 clutch etc. The flywheel ring gear was worn and had I known this was so hard to find I would have been much more careful about taking the old one off. Now, the issue.....My ring gear Inside Diameter is 9.65, 132 teeth, OD is 11.20 and thickness is 3.65. Give or take a very few thousands. Everyone that I have talked to tells me I need a 10 inch ID ring gear and that I have the wrong one. This one has never been off of the car. Most people dont even show a listing for my application and if they do it comes back to the 10 inch ID. I know someone has to have ran into this before or know what Im talking about. I have posted several post on the Fairlane Club site and have had little help so here I am. Please let me know if anyone can help me out on this. Thanks in advance.

I just looked at a flywheel that was on my 68 200 with the 2.77 3sp tranny. The step on the side that faces the engine where the ring gear is on is apprx 9.75" using a tape measure. The OD is just over 11" but the thickness is only about 1.5" or so. I have the pictures, so if you PM me your e-mail, I'll send them to you to make sure I'm measuring the same as you.

There is a FRG-132E out there on fleabay but the ID is not the same as you're looking for :?

IIRC the early 60's ford-o-matic behind the 170/200 also used a 132 tooth gear on the flexplate/converter but has different ID & OD from the manual tranny stepped flywheel 132 tooth version (possible source of confusion). AFAIK the 132 tooth stepped flywheel ring gear is getting as rare as hens teeth...you might check with these folks (no ID or OD listed on web)...

...or Tom's Bronco or Jeff's Bronco Graveyard...or consider flipping your gear to use the other side if possible.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. What is the "stepped flywheel" My flywheel has a machined surface that the clutch goes against that is recessed down inside the flywheel. Is this it? Its an 8.5 inch clutch. Noticed your in Grandpraire, Im on the other end of Joe Pool in Mansfield.

No sweat  oops, yep I should have said "recessed" not "stepped", that's the typical '65 and earlier 8.5in clutch recessed flywheel...I'd have to assume your ID & OD measures from your original are correct and it is the flywheel ring gear that's become particularly HTF.

Yeah, not much more than a stone's throw from Manfield....hard to tell where S. Arlington ends and Mansfield begins any more in the sprawl
