65 Mustang Steering Box Removal from Uderneath

Anyone know if it's possible to remove the steering box from underneath a 65 Mustang 200, with no lift? All the V8 guys seem to remove it from up top, but I really want to avoid having to move or undo my brake lines and proportioning valve and such, since it was a pain in the ass getting all that bent and routed and bled and leak free.

take off the driver's frnt wheel'n look?
Is it in, outside the frame (on top?)
Gotta swing a long breaker bar (I assume) on 3 - 4 nuts.
Do Not spin the "adjustment nut" (not a frame connector) on top. U can ruin the inside.

Y do U wish to remove it?
It may help avoid it's removal if we know what the problem is...
:?:

I want to remove it so I can install this quicker ratio box.

It seems like I can remove it from underneath, but every V8 owner advises to take it out from the top so I'm doubting myself. Obviously, that could be because the V8 gets in the way in a way that the 6-cylinder doesn't, but I'm asking here to be sure.

OK, sorry. Sometimes they ask us 'how do I get rid of my exhaust' (or sompin) when we go dwn that rd 10 posts ina thread & it turns out the cat is just blocked. Something is figured out wrong & Q is asked following that slightly off logic. Wks later we finally get oriented correctly. Not the case here~
Got any pic of that area? I gotta bronk so need to see ur 'situation'. I got plenty room. Isnt ur linkage in the way to go thru bottom? :?

Yes it can be removed from the bottom. Make sure you have the car secured on strong jack stands or blocks you may find its easier to just rasie the front end up as high as you can and leave the rear lower, good luck

Let's see what we can do. Worst case I'll mount it back up. Good to know that someone thinks it can be done here. A couple people on another forum said it's doable also. I'll try and take some pics if I can this weekend.

no pic necessary 4 me. It wuz 4 U (actually - so I could C wassss up from ur end). U sound ready ta 'doit" And sometimes that's all that's needed (attitude). I call it 'fearless' when I see "my boss" tackle things he's never seen B4. Sounds like ya godid now, we'll B here.

In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread, removing from below was a piece of cake. Removed the steering wheel and column from inside, then removed crossmember from below and the box and shaft came right out.

inside? removed x-member? Sounds like U went in both directions...
