From what I understand you must use a 67 or later bell housing for the T5 swap. If you have a pre67 3 spd tranny your bell will not work. The other option is to use the T5 bell. An adapter is needed that most of the Mustang parts suppliers sell. Either way the T5 will fit.

I would prefer using the T5 bellhousing, I know i'll have to change out the crossmember as well and from what I've read they also have this available? Do you have any idea how much, in easy round figures--for both? :
Also, I have a more immediate question, when I dropped the old steering set up and checked the pitman against the 74 Mav set-up--the small bore for the center drag would not fit. I've priced a new pitman for a 74 Mav and it ain't a cheap part, for me anyway? A friend of mine who builds some fast cars and has done several nice stangs...was'nt sure but did not think I could use a pitman from a 74 Mav and may have to change out the whole steering sector & box with a 68 V8 stang due to the size of the splined hole of the pitman regarding a 65--6cyl..?? I would have got the one off of the 74 Mav. but I didn't have the right size wrench to get the bottom nut off, besides it was very cold and wet and after five hours of looking over and under those old cars I was beat....Do I need to go back to the boneyard and try again...and if so does any one know what size that thing is, I had a 1-1/4th box end and it wasn't big enough.... I know, your thinking---doesn't this guy know anything??? The answer: just what my wife tells me is right---I'm usually wrong about everything else
