"Don't use a rope seal. You will find the 302 Windsor 2 peice neoprene seal is a perfect fit. Its what my engine builder uses and recommends. It's ACL part number HN064. Much less drag than a rope seal. "

This sounds like a super mod. The rope seal has me a little concerned facing my first overhaul of a XF 250. It sounds like the rope seal can be real finicky. Dropping in a motor in my '71 Comet is a real chore for me. I don't like the idea of completly going through an engine only to have a leaky main seal on it. Have ya'll tried the neoprene seal? I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't work. I guess I'm just needing some reassurance that this will work. Thanks for any insite you can give me.

If youre engine is an xf one i think with 84da casting it will have a seal you hit in from the back a big round one. Ive used the two piece neoprean seal in my cortina 250, it hasnt leaked yet but the car hasnt moved yet either
