Another Carb Possibility for Log Head

This is a little one compared to the Autolites and such. XE seems to think it'll flow 280cfm. While this actual carb is Aussie made, and fitted to the 225 slant Mopars of the late '60s, there should be a US version. Best of all it's quite compact, so would do well with a 90° adaption.

Throttle bores are 1 7/16", venturis 1 3/16". Butterflies are synchronous, cable choke. In a nutshell, two standard size 1960's 200 carbs in the one housing. Vacuum is venturi only; no ported.

I have been looking for carbs that could be adapted to sideways mount, and this is one of the simpler and more compact so far.

It sure looks like a carter bb series to me. I raced a 66 Dodge Dart with a 273 2 barrel (180 horsepower) in junior stock in the late sixties and I'm sure that is the same carb. I believe they came on sixties and seventies 318 dodge engines also. Thats my 2 cents worth. Paul.

I have a '72 plymouth sattelite with a 318. The carb you've got there looks very similar to mine, although mine has a plastic cover over the plunger for a hose, I forget what that hose is for though. Haven't looked at it for months.

I only know it as an "Email Carter", not sure of the model.

There's part numbers everywhere, so not sure what would be the one to look at. Almost everything alloy cast for Ford and Mopar here was by CertiZinc or Email.

Found some similar Holleys in a '59 International handbook last night, so there was obviously a "family" of carbs with similar dimensions in the 50s/60s. Given the compactness, the simplicity and the way people seem to often wrestle with things like the H/W units, maybe some "low-tech" alternatives like these, merit a look-in.
