I'm posting this for some one else who doesn't have net access...
the Q is???

Has any1 replaced a column auto shifter with a B&M floor shifter on a 65 XP, C4 auto trans...???

If yes, what sort, any good, anything else that you could rec if not B&M?

Thank you in advance, Sarah H...(posted via Mcfly).

Cant help on this one as I havent done mine. I am probably going to use a MR Gasket Pro-matic as I had one in a '74 Falcon and it worked well.

If it's an "up and over" type gate for reverse and park, it'll drive you nuts if used daily!

Should you feel the need to have the shift on the floor ( :P ), then a T-bar is quite effective; it requires some simple mods to fit it to the earlier tunnel.

Column shifts rock. They were good enough for RR, so they're good enough for me.

Cheers, Adam.

B&M ones are available cable operated, and there is just a cable operation, no major drilling required. Spend the money, and get the kit. Anything else will be a let-down.

The stock Ford T-bar used from the early Mustangs/Falcons/Fairlanes to early 1983 in Cortinas was a good device, but must be set up correctly. It isn't hard if you have time and apptitide, but was the subject of legal action in the 70's because of an inablity to lock it in gear properly unless set up to spec.

Because of the aptitide issue of getting a good donar, and the need to hack the tunnel, I'd go B&M. Don't have any part numbers, but if cable, then its just a drill hole, a back-up light wire and inhiboter, and the bolts to mount it. In Aussie, there is even a handed one which has the PNDR1-2 on the drivers side.

Pay and play with safety. Talk to the nearest speed shop, and tell 'em what you need.

i dont know if i can help ya much but i put a b&m quicksilver in my xm, but it is a borg warner not a c4, it was just a matter of making a hole for the cable and positioning the shifter where you want it then bolt it in, it took me probly bout an hour max, the only problem i had was findig a linkage for a borg warner and being a c4 they would be easy to find. all in all pretty simple really, i cant see it being much different for a c4, good luck
