I recently purchaced a set of headers from Clifford for my 96' f-150, Here's the problem, when was pre-assembling the motor out of my truck, i bolted the front header on and then tried to bolt on the absuredly large alternator/air pump bracket, and found that i am not able to even remotly close to being able to bolt the bracket on with the header. to make a long story short, the header hits the bracket. What i need to know now is, what do i do? lol

Does anyone make aftermarket brackets? or can i just take my stock bracket and introduce it to my bench grinder? Either way, looks like the Eddie bauer isn't going to be making it to woodward this year

I'm not sure if this will help but, on my '68 I used some 1" tubular bronze spacers between the alternator bracket and the block to give me more clearence, and a good washer between the spacer and the block to help distribute the stress.

Is it the dual headers or the single outlet one like I have? I remember reading that with the duals you have to cut the altinator bracket in half.

Wildjon, I have a similar setup as you with regards to the Clifford stuff. Do you have any problems with sealing the headers on the #6 tube. I've got a constant leak at the top left of that header pipe. It looks like the headers aren't being pushed high enough to cover the port but I can't get it to go any higher.

I had the same problem...except I always thought it was just me night tighting the bolts enough. What I did to fix the problem is take a jack under the exhaust system I had ran and jack it up enough (this is after putting the fist bolt in on the front) to seal. I tightened it up and t hasn't leaked since.

Yup, I tried something similar I hooked my engine hoist up to the #6 tube and pulled up on it while tightening the bolts. My headers have something that looks like a weld blob on one of the lower flanges on the headers that hits the intake manifold. I thought it might be some kind of locator or something. If I have to take the headers off again I was thinking of grinding the blob off.

yes it is the aluminum one. I did take the grinder to it, and it now bolts up fine.
