Blocking off the heater hoses.....

Looking to block off the heater hoses on my '65 200. The heater core has been bypassed and the hoses re-routed in some kind of high class "en-gy-neeering" debacle of copper and garden hose. I am wanting to get rid of the home grown solution and block the ports all together. Any "cons" to doing so? I would turn a plug for the supply side to screw in and be as close to the water gallery as possible and on the return side the same and placing freeze plugs in the carb heating tube. Other than possible carb iceing any other draw backs? Even better does anyone make plugs for just such an operation? Thanks for the help and comments in advance.

The fastest low-tech solution is to simply loop a short hose from one outlet to the other on the heater side of the water pump. Then pull all that other stuff out. You could simply cap the inlet and outlet somehow. I wonder if you can get a water pump without the heater lugs? Don't know.
On the other hand, when you take the heater core out of the equation, you do sacrifice a small (minimal) amount of cooling capacity.

I ran mine this way for two years. It's nice ot finally have heat.
 
Why not just put the heater hoses back like Ford intended? Heat's a good thing...unless you've got a leaking heater core (which I'll bet is why the DPO rigged up the mess you've got now).

There are rubber caps you can get to block the fittings, I think NAPA carries some. Or you can just loop a short hose like mentioned above.

No real reason to block off the carb fittings, except to keep bugs out.
Running without the carb heat shouldn't be an issue unless you're living where it gets really cold and wet (carb icing).
 
Go to your local hardware store and get a couple of pipe plugs. 1 for the water pump and another for the head.

No need to block off the openings in the carb adapter.

I done mine 4 or 5 years ago with no problems :D :D :D

Hi,

I bought a brass pipe plug the correct size at Home Dep*t for the head side.

I filled the water pump side with epoxy and then bought the rubber caps from the "Help!" section at Pop/Krogin/Autozoo. I placed these caps over both the inlet and outlet connections at the firewall and over the epoxy plug at the water pump.

No heat necessary in San Diego!
