I see type R , S , RS & H blow off valves listed in various places.

I have no idea the difference

Brand name? I think they are all copies of the Tial, HKS or Greddy design, might want to take a look at their respective websites. There probably isn't much of a real world difference in their performance.

There are several factory options for BOV's, and IMO their are less expensive and higher quality.

They may not be as bling, but the work well and look like they belong in an engine bay.

I am using a toyota surpa BOV on mine. They are also called air diverter valves.

the bosch ones are pretty popular.....just have a 1.5" or so hose connection on them so no flanges needed.

I am going to go with a TiAl just because it will match my wastegate and for the bling factor.

Edit (Just saw the original post date....hope it helps some one anyway)

They will all get the job done, more a personal decisions. The sound each make varies in pitch and volume. Some designs lend themselves to recirculating back into the intake a little easier due to it's design. But if you are venting to the atmosphere, as i imagine you are, that isn't a concern to you (more a problem with factory turbo cars). I personally have used the HKS SSQV style on my other turbo projects (Modern Imports). You can also look into factory and after market bypass valves as mention above. A used 1st generation DSM (Mitsubishi eclipse &Eagle talon) vale is a popular cost effective solution.

Check Youtube for videos, and you can also look at this link.
