what size flange am I looking for on bolt sizes?

I atill am unclear of specific bolt spacing of our carbs...if someone tells me in one post, I will copy it out and save it

I want to make sure if I get a rebuilt 250 or 300 carb, it will be bolt on...

Both my carter RBS and dismantled autolite 1100 share about the same bolt spacing.
The RBS uses a distinctive spacer (sheffield/fomoco stamped) to adapt to the `69 flat top head of the 200´s/ 250´s.
Eventually, you´ll have to fab up some custom spacer from aluminum stock to clear the larger throttle plate, or do some grinding on your head´s carb flange.

no info about 240/300 stuff... wish I had a collection of all the nice 1barrel carbs that were available back in the day.

so some of these 250 carbs I see on ebay are not a direct bolt on, huh Simon...if thats the case, thanks for the heads up...

square one

This is very inconsistent- the '70 maverick YF I got for my '69 head uses the narrow bolt flange pattern, yet somebody else here just got a yf from the same year maverick and it had the wider pattern. The plate I got from a fairmont a few weeks back has the 3 inch pattern- useless to me but for sale if somebody need's it!

i have found a carb that has the 3 inch bolt pattern....

let me get this straight

if I get your flange...it will bolt to my log ( 68 ) and the the carb with the 3 inch bolts will bolt to it? do i have to enlarge the hole?

chaz

Unfortuneatly for you, the plate I have also has the 3 inch pattern on the log. It seem's there are the early engines that have the 2 3/4 bolt intake with the 2 3/8 (or is it 5/8- can't remember....) 1.5 hole carb adaptor; with the same bolt spacing but the 1.75 hole like mine; some with the same intake but the 3 in. carb bolt spacing, and then the one I just got with the 3 in carb and intake spacing. Ford sure changed things around a lot!

In your case, you could enlarge both the flange holes on the carb and then taper the 1.5 hole in your carb spacer/heater hose plate from 1.75 on the top to 1.5 on the bottom to blend into the 1.5 in hole on the log- others have done this successfully but not myself. I lucked out and found a small bolt pattern carb with the larger bore- only made for a year or less as far as I can tell.

i did some digging...i have the 1.5 dia hole and 2 3/4 bolt pattern...

so now I can shop ebay with knowledge...unfortunately, the people selling usually have no clue what they have

I e-mailed a guy on ebay who was selling a YF- luckilly he answered as it was not the right one for me.
