hey again guys
i got a auto tran on my car now and it dosen't quite work from what everyone told me it the bands have streched.

which brings me to why im asking right now

Yesterday i was told that you can open the gearbox up and cut the bands shorter because they strech over time of street racing and burnout preasure on the box.

Is this true or not??? Cause if is but weakens the box or something dosen't really matter atleast i can have the chance to ride the gearbox to the end LOL all i wanted to do to it before i install the manual

plus after seeing the XE on www.fullboost.com.au with the auto tran and LPG doing 126mph on the 1/4 it kindamake me wanna to fuck my tran like he is lmao

ow i should meantion the motor a 250 crossflow with a stock gearbox from a xf cause it is a xf too but hay

id say borg warner 40 or M51

and i just read the Gregory's car book on Falcon Xf's and they meantion something about adjust selector rod if nothing happens while in drive

and

nothing happen at all in 1,2 or D - faulty front band adjustment (check and adjust front band as detailed)

if that help any what to u guys

It's a Borg-Warner Model 40. Common enough, not very cheap to rebuild but you may get one from a wrecker, that has a few months warranty.

Check your fluid level is not too high or too low. Either will mess up the tranny. People talk about adjusting the bands because they can be adjusted. The clutch packs inside wear, but they won't suggest replacing them... Bands need adjusting with the tranny out - at least on the Model 35 they do as the top one is impossible to adjust accurately in the car unless you've done a milion and have the feel for it.

Fix up an auto at present, because the manual swap is more involved and you need the car mobile while you plan it. Trust me; once the car stops moving under its own power, projects slow right down. Right, guys?

I'm sure there is something that actually works on this car. For your own sake fordthunder go and see a mechanic. For all the advice you've received on this forum, it would have cost you at least 15 grand if you had followed it and done all the necessary repairs.
