I'm posting this in this area to try to be exposed to the most FSP'ers:
My '63 Falcon has the original Battery tray for the six cylinder which has the retainers on the bottom of the two short sides of the battery: fixed clamp on car-front side and boltdown on car-rear side. My car currently has a regular NAPA 26 frame "Power-65" battery but I can not find a new battery with the retainer ridges on the short sides (not front and rear) of the battery. NAPA batteries do not have the retainers anymore as well as other brands I've looked at. The NAPA guys know what I want but say the spec's are for dimensions and don't include clamping info..
Also the battery OEM trays would accomodate two different sizes depending where you would put the car-rear clamp. I presume to use bigger battery with V8's or AC?.
I looked at lots of info on the Interstate Battery site and again it had dimensional specs but not clamp/retainer info.
Anyone know what Northeast US Parts stores would have a suitable side retainer battery. No luck with Auto-Zone or Advance Auto either. I'd hate to have to change my perfectly OEM setup to some aftermarket retainer.
Here is the same batt'y tray on e-bay : http://search.ebay.com/FORD-FALCON-batt ... ageZsearch
Oddly enough I ran into the EXACT same retainer problem with a commercial mower's battery I have (Grasshopper 721) and wound up bungee-cording the battery in.
Thanks Powerband 8)
