I posted this on another forum so I thought i'd give you guys a shot at it:
I have recieved a little help from around the net but still am concerned on the hole size, and if there should be any other small holes for vacuum in the corners.
I plan on making my own gasket since I cant find one with the smaller size hole.
I have a 1971 Ford Bronco with a 170cu six cylinder. I bought a new carter yf for it and the gasket doesnt match the outlet size. The bottom of the carb is about 1 5/8 but the gasket hole is about 1 3/4 leaving about an eigth inch all around the hole. Does anyone have experience with this situation, these carbs and their gaskets? Does it make a difference or should the bottom of the carb and the gasket hole be exactly the same size. Someone familiar with these carbs probably knows theres a vacuum port and the idle screw port on the bottom of these that the gasket covers, but not completely. Will performance, idle, vacuum be affected? Should I look for a gasket the same size? Any suggestions on part numbers if so?
This is the gasket for the 1971 Ford 170, Napa and Autozone assured me. And it says on the package Ford 170, 200, 240, 250, 300. Although im kinda thinking all those engines have some difference in hole sizes on the bottom of the carter yfs.
