Hi gumpn,
First my excuse for my English, i'm a Belgian you know.
Polishing is easy and cheap. The only thing you need is time. But the result is worth it.
First clean your carb (get everything out!) and work on a clean desk.
Get sandpaper, i use this numbers:
1 ==> P220
2 ==> P360
3 ==> P600
4 ==> P1200
5 ==> (don't know the english word

) ironwool? nr. 000
The best buy is waterproof paper, so you can grind wet. The paper stand langer and there's no dust (aluminium dust is no healthy)
If the surface is realy coarse you can use first a P180 (not for carb = aluminium ==> deep scratches).
So you grind....grind...grind and grind

in that order and be shure you take all the scratches out. Pay attention to make no angles round.
Then clean your carb (water is ok) now you shoud have a fluffy egal surface.
Now take the dremel.
I use polishing sticks, it's a little wool ball.
You need also polish, i use Belgom (not shure you can get it in US) but there are several other products, the important thing is to use a very refined product.
No you have to polish put a little bit belgom on the carb and use the dremel, don't push hard and don't make the surface too hot.
After a while you gonna see it shine. Polish as long as you want (own taste), but yes if you polish long enough you can see yourself in it
To finish you shining carb use some wax and clean it with white towels.
Now you got a beautiful (heat reflective !!!) carb!
Succes! (and lot's of patient

)
Greets
Joost
