Dropping 83DA engine (4.1 auto) into early (leaded) XF wagon

Hi Guys,

I'm currently rebuilding a 4.1 from an XE auto to put in my XF wagon, which is an early 3.3 manual. My intention is to keep the 4spd trans.

Can anyone tell me if I need to modify the carb on the 4.1 engine to run with a manual trans? Are there any other mods required (other than pilot bearing)?

My intention was to just to use the carb as is, but I've been led to believe that carbs are set up for both engine capacity and trans type.

your right the carb is specific to the engine/trans combo but i was running a 4.1/auto XE carb on my 4.1/4spd without any problems. it ran really strong.

The is a code on the side of the base of the carb which should read
ADM #

0 = 4.1/man
1 = 4.1/auto
2 = 3.3/man
3 = 3.3/auto

Thanks, I'll just take the easy option then and put the auto carb on.
