Duraspark 2 & GM HEI Hybrid Ignition Query

I'm all ready to do this, just got to get the parts & get it done...

Been studying various sets of instructions & this diagram looks good, very simple....

Post is here... http://www.ffcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151643

My question is, there doesn't seem to be any kind of main fuse in there, not sure where I expect to see one... maybe on the "Hot in Ign" run & in the run from the starter to the Relay pin 30 maybe....

Perhaps the guy assumes there is already one in the "Hot in Ign" run??

Can anyone give me some pointers. I'm not too bad at following wiring diagrams but I'm no expert so appreciate the help.

Also can anyone tell me if the 6cyl Duraspark has the same colour wires on it?

Thanks,

Dan :)

Wire colors are basically standard.

Fuses are at your discretion...some of us enjoy a little unexpected arc-welding every now and then!

Hehe thanks... Are the places I suggest the places that other would/have put them?

Still trying to find the fusebox on the Falcon... Half of the original loom is no longer hooked up anywhere so it's interesting!!

Is it just me or in the picture does it looks like the starter is connected directly to the positive side of the battery... :?: :?: :?:

I followed the link and found it to be very slick how he mounted the module in the old duraspark case.

The solenoid is not shown, but the starter is connected to the battery, but only gets 12V when the solenoid gets a start command from the ignition switch.

The way I read that he's got a 12V permanent direct from the battery to pin 30... the starter pic is just a bit spurious, maybe he means he tagged onto the connection from the solenoid from the battery.

Dan :)

Me too.... but I don't think the Falcon is so sophisticated as to switch things off like that in crank...

So can anyone confirm where I need to put that run to Pin 30? Should it come off one of the starter solenoid connections or can I run a straight 12V direct from the battery?

Cheers,

Dan :)

Check out Mustang Steve's diagram for the Duraspark. Everything should be the same, except the GM Module has no wires, just posts with letters. Purple to "G," Orange to "W," Coil "+" to "B," and Coil "-" to "C." In addition, just to make sure you have a good ground, run a wire from one of the brass grommets to the Black wire from the DS II.
