this one has me confused. i have a 62 ranchero with a 200 in it. starts fine runs fine everything is great. but if i get it warm then go to the store when i come out and start it the darn thing misses. not badly like it will stall just an anoying miss that wont go away unless i drive it around for about 5 min.

If you are in a warm to hot climate and have alcohol blended in your fuel there would be about a 99% chance you that under those short stop conditions you have some sort of a vapor lock issue somewhere in your fuel system.

well i do live in ca and i know they blend our fuel with up to 10 % ethenol so vapor lock could be an issue. is there any way to make it better or should i just learn to deal with crapy gas?

Make sure everything is in top contition and state of tune. I have heard that sometimes something like opening the hood to the safety catch will let enough air flow to keep things cool, you just have to remember to do it and latch it again before you take off. Some people have luck with an electric fuel pumps. In my 73 cadillac I installed an electric fan on a mechanical timer. I wind it up to about 15 minutes when I shut it down. For the most part it does the trick. If I seek out non oxy fuel its not nearly as bad so Im fairly sure thats my problem, its just too much work to try and need gas when Im near those stations plus non oxy is only available in preimum which my car does not need.

Maybe someone else will have some better tips or other things to check.

Good Luck and keep us posted if you figure it out.

thanks for the tip it does do it worse on hot days but the engine still runs fine and cool so i guess just the heat soak when sitting causes it. i hear the fuel here in ca is horrible so that has a lot to do with it. i mentioned in another post how my plugs were all red like rust and it was come to that it is the junk they add to the fuel that does it.
