Engine noise

Hello, I have been playing around with my '62 170cid fordomatic and gotten a decent idle, now something that I wonder about is that it makes a tractor type noise or as my brother said a diesel engine, it does a chaka-chaka-chaka (this is the best I could think of on writing the sound down) as speed increases. It is almost not there if it is idling very low but if I increase the speed it is noticeable. I was wondering if it is ok or is it something I should look at? My uncle told me to check the oil and it was ok but I still filled it till it was full. My aftermarket oil pressure dial only goes to 50 out of 100, is this an oil problem? I hope it is nothing big. Thanks to all.

It sounds like you may have an exhaust leek probably between the head and exhaust manifold one more thing you might look at is look for a crack in the exhaust manifold that is a vary common problem i have never seen an original manifold that was not cracked in the center.
