My 200 six threw a rod yesterday and so now all of the sudden it is time for me to do all of the upgrades I have been wanting to do. Here's my list. Am I missing anything or do I have something wrong? The motor is a 65 and the head is a 66 and I already have a clifford 6-2 header, MSD-6 and a Mallory Unilite distributer- basically everything I could do without opening it up- but now is the time!
1. Weld in port divider
2. Plane exhaust manifold surface
3. Mill block and or head- .055 total- take as much as possible off the block down to zero deck maximum then whatever is left off of the head. Shooting for 9.5 compression with a Fel-Pro head gasket.
4. Minimum overbore- just to clean up cylinder walls
5.Three angle valve job and hardened seats
6. Install '78 inake valves 1.76" dia.
7. Install '61 144 c.i. intake valves at exhaust 1.468" dia.
8. New valve springs- Napa part #212-1059 from ford 302
9. New pushrods
10. Adjustable valve train from early head
11. Stock pistons- 7cc dish
12. ARP bolts
13. Crane cam #H206/280
14 Timing gears and chain from a '70 250
15. Balance crank
