Install the port divider and the leaks will go away! Also use one of Mikes exhaust gaskets with a nice bead of copper coat on bvoth sides and it will seal up perfectly.

It must be the way some of the heads are cast....Some people can run headers without the port divider and some cannot. I had the same problem you did before I installed my divider...Gasket would work fine for a couple months then blow out on the center 2 exhaust ports.

You can have a 3 angle valve job done on your exhistiong valves but the FSPP valves will flow better if youre looking for max HP and durability!

Machining the exhaust flange is easily done by any machine shop. Should not cost too much either.

Just like the deck surface, these things do tend to flex and twist out of shape. Add the rust and erosion, and you get leaks.

They sure can erode. The way it's hidden is a major flaw in the design. Out of sight, out of mind...

Factory fitment on the exhaust bolts was those locking washers with the multiple tabs you bend up and down, to lock against the surface and the flats on the bolt head. I'm not sure if they're still available.

Thanks Guys,

I met with a new machinist this morning. He said if I will bring him the head Monday he'll have it ready for me by the folllowing Friday. He'll cc the head and take off what I need to get to 9.1, install the port divider and machine the exhaust flat, do a 5 angle valve job and install the new valves. All for 300$.

Hopefully Mike will get back to me soon so I can get the valves here by friday.

Am I missing anything?

Don,

I'll ship the valves out in the morning so you will have them by Friday. I'll send another gasket too.
