Flex Plate Spacer

Hello all.

Does anyone have a photo of a flex plate spacer?

I am planning on attaching a C4 to my 170 next weekend, and this
is the only thing I need to find first.

This would be the spacer that goes over the flex plate - with the 6
holes in it for the flex plate bolts.

Here is a picture of a flex plate without the spacer...

That goes between the bolts and the plate right? Not between the crank and plate? I hope so thats where mine was when I took it apart yesterday.

I have also been lead to believe that you sandwich the flex plate
between this ring and the rear crank flange.

It is also called a load spreader ring sometimes.

That's where it goes. You can see the oxidised areas proving it's to the outside of all the bits.
 
That is called a torque ring or load spreader ring in various contexts. The purpose is to as the name implies spread the force equally around the circumference, eliminating distortion as well.

It also functions critically as a washer since the holes in the crank do not go through into the crankcase. In the other thread I gave some data on the length of the bolt shaft. Note that the bolts for the V8 versions are not the same as the 200 as the head is larger.

Make sure you use threadlock when torquing the bolts as there have been sorry cases where they backed out and damage inflicted inside the bell housing. It is not going to be fun removing the whole assembly just for one small step that is eliminated.

You got that right. I torqued my down to spec and they loosened while I was driving. Had a buzz right under my seat. It was really disappointing. Fortunately no damage was done and my skilled mechanic (as opposed to most of them) fixed it WITH threadlock.
