I have an 8in diff up for sale its a 3to1 and has 5 stud axels it was last fitted to a TC corty (looks like 9in) im asking $350

GASSED250 says
Aussies say six and kiwi's say sex
but when you think about it there both the same thing

but I say
Sex, Drags, Rock Gas'n Lets Roll!

Hope you get a taker for the 8" brother. I can't help.

If it was packaged as a banjo, would customs charge a lessor rate to get it to kiwiland?

Regards,

Deano

I think Customs would tell the difference
as the banjo wouldn't take the weight of the packing tape
"SEX" as in the number
or the act of fornication

Hey Gassed 250.
Is it lsd and what is it out of originally? not many 8 inch diffs that fit cortinas?

What people don't realise is that American Mustang II's and Mavericks and Grandas used the same 8" diff, and it was about 53 " wide between the flanges. They are not like Falcon diffs, which were much wider. Ford America did a very interseting cost cut. Park a US Granada/Maverick against a Aussie XA-XH Falcon, and you'll be amazed how narrow the diff and front shocker mounts are. I've seen cut-aways, and the Cortinas track isn't any different to a Mavericks. Just more over hang in every direction. The first 8" was made in 1962, the last 8" was made in the late 1979, so there are a lot about. Both Aussie XR-XT GT's ran them as well as the US 1966-1970 Falcon/Fairlanes had them, and they were h-e-a-p-s wider than the Maverick and Granada items.

How wides a te diff? Im already running a XTGT 8inch lsd diff with Xc disks and itsa bit to wide for the car (Xm falcon) and needs to be around 50mm shorter each side so i ca put the change the gaurds back to original

The Falcon and Cortina and drum braked Commodores before 1988 were all 1420 mm track at the back. The Chrysler Centura was similar. The Nissan Pintara/Skyline are 1390 mm from wheel to wheel. Most of these had BorgWarner 78 variants which could be rewelded for the spring perches sixes ran.

A lot of work, but cheeper than shortening them. Ps. Some diffs can be shortened on only one side, and you can then save a lot of money.

Sounds like its the same width as the one ive got :(
As factory they have a 1385mm track
