Which way dose the bearing tang face on a ford 223? i assume that the oil hole in the rod faces the cam? is this right ? :bang:

Correct, oil squirt hole toward the cam, piston top notch or arrow forward. Timing chain 12 pins between the dots on the 2 sprockets on the upper right side facing the front of the engine from the front.

Yes, Facing the front of the engine and looking at he crank gear on the crankshaft, the timing dot on the crank sprocket is to be at about the 2:00 o'clock position. The cam sprocket center is up and to the left. Turn the cam and its sprocket until there 12 timing chain pins between the timing dots on both sprockets when installed. This will result in the cam sprocket's timing dot being in the 2:00 o'clock position relative to the center of the cam sprocket. Some chains have links marked by copper plating in which case the dots are aligned with the copper plated links. Some chains are not marked. Any Ford or Motors or Chilton repair manual should have a picture of the proper installation.
