Fuel injection

While the Holley should work well, I suspect that most folks looking for EFI have a cheaper solution in mind.

How much of a gain in hp would you guys think you will see in a stock 200?

Absolutely NO change whatsoever in peak HP versus a proprerly tuned carb. Fuel injection in itself has no ability to increase peak HP. It will allow you to take advantage of modifications by tuning the fuel output to match the engine's needs. It will usually provide higher HP throughout the rest of RPM range than will a carb. You get better fuel economy, cleaner emissions, better drivability, smoother and usually quicker acceleration but no increase in top end speed or HP.

cheaper solution!!!!!

tel me more !! getting a tbi system is not a problem , but how to computer it ?

I've looked at the cheaper solution but I'd just rather spend the dough and get the car on the road. So I've stopped eating to save my pennies and buy that holley system.

you want a cheap computer? i don't think you can get cheaper than the MegaSquirt, and you make it yourself (which should appeal to you  )

take a look at the set up clifford has i think you might like the setup and its easy to install just my two cents worth.its worth checking out another avenue

Has anyone in this forum gone the route of throttle body injection? Moving away from a carburetor sounds like an awesome idea to me. I'm not too concerned with increasing HP - I just want something that has smooth acceleration, good starting, good idle speed and if I get better fuel mileage - bonus!

the66mustang, read all about the MegaSquirt here

It is available as a kit for about $125 or fully assembled and tested for $200.

54ford . i did lookt it up ,but i cant find the complete set ? MegaSquirt for 200$ .
maybe i did overlookt it , but where is the order form to get a complete set ,fully assembled and tested ?

btw , for a tbi setup , what injector would do for a 200 ? are there differend size,s to get ?

stupid thingking : i can get a tbi set complete for free from a 1,7 liter engine ,fully complete ! [ from a yunk yard who is willing to help me out with my stupid idee ,if i can get it work,t .i pay the set , when not i can return the parts with no cost ] single tbi , how about adding 2 single injectors to the intake with using 1 setup [ cable/ sensors/ computer ] for a tbi set ? ? 2x 1,7 = 3,4 liter injectie ? would be close too the flowrate from a 3,3 liter ?
give me some tips and idee,s i want to work this out !

The Megasquirt FAQ page lists a link to purchasing pre-assembled units here, but the link seems to be dead right now. Hope you're handy with a soldering gun... ;)

I'm exploring using a GM TBI from a 4.3 V6 (S10, Astro) with my OZ head. Now, that's a two barrel. It looks to me like the one barrel from a four cylinder S10 might work with the log manifold. Custom chips are available for the GM computer.

Check out this site for GM conversions. http://www.justinternationals.org/inter ... ection.htm

WOW, I've been away from this place for awhile (been continuing resto ^_^ )

I was really interested in fuel injection myself. I've been considering lots of things. I dint realize that that guy Clifford made a fuel injection system now, nor that u could maybe use that Jeep system or other to work, w\ proper adapting.

I was really hoping it would be possible to remove the old intake, by cutting and fabricating, but I certainly dont have any such equipment or knowledge for that : \

I lookt at that Megasquirt thing abit, an idea had poppt in my head, wouldnt it be neat to remove minimal of the intake as it is, fabricate a component to replace the removed part, stick on a throttle valve and drill holes in each intake runner for injectors, near the head, that'd be cool. Maybe then, the Megasquirt could be used to control the injectors. The problem would be, needing an idle control, for times when idle might drop, AC & power steering loads if equipt, etc.

The thing I don like is, it lookt like Cliffords FI required a 2 or 4 bbl intake. Well, this topic was about the integral heads which do not have such a thing, however it lookt like he had some adapters that would make a 1 bbl into a 2 or 4 bbl.

I did like the fact that it seems he put everything u need in that package and he has very detailed info, it snds like a good system, jus abit $$$.
Course I like that $850 unit, but u will still need to make/ acquire the fittings for return lines to the fuel tank as well as w\ other systems. Then u also got to buy the O2 sensor seperate. And I think it said for manual trans ... hm...

Jegs had a 2d 2bbl 670cfm injection system for $775, I think there r a couple other things u might need, like the 2 bbl adapter and maybe closed loop harness/ o2 ?
Anh well ... I guess I keep reading for now.
