hey guys I was wondering if you could tell me what head I've got seeing as it doesnt look like it's the original and I know it's been rebuilt. The code is as follows:
6A28 C6DE - 6090 - B 16

so it would have the smaller intake log as opposed to the larger 250 log then? Just wishful thinking i guess.

Yes, it is the smaller intake. They didn't change until 69 on the 250. Any head before that is either a 144, 170 or 200.

Howdy Spences66six:

The specs on a C6 head are as follows- carb hole 1.5", intake valve face 1.69", exhaust valve 1.39", intake tract volume 1,100cc, combustion chamber volume 52cc.

The '69 "M" head that slade refers to, is the flat-topped log. This head, as well as all of the "D" and later, were used on 200 and 250 interchangeabley. The Flat-toped castings have the largest intake tract volume, of 1,365cc, of any stock head. But it does not have hardend valve seats and it has a 62 cc chamber. The flat-topped design was also used on castings D5XX-BA and D7XX-AB. All D3XX and later castings will have 1.75" carb hole and 62cc chambers. These heads have an intake tract volume of 1,245cc. All D7XX and later castings will have hardened valve seat inserts.

I hope that helps you. The devil is indeed in the details!

Adios, David
