i'm gauging some interest in purchasing a header for my 63 Falcon with a 170. i looked in dearborne classics and didnt find one. any suggestions as to where i can obtain one?

yea...I have never seen another one, but there's probably some out there. You could fab your own, if you are pretty handy when it comes to metalworking.

Hmm, I had not thought of that. Now I think I might make my own :) :)

thats pretty cool!! seems as though they are manufactured by Pacemaker. hopefully they have no affiliation with Pacesetter. $275 is a pretty good deal. i just hope the header wouldnt make the engine sound raspy....

My experience has been that headers on a standard motor often come out quieter than before they're installed! Pacemaker and Pacesetter are completely separate companies.

glad to hear that pacemaker and pacesetter are seperate companies. i haven't had good luck with pacesetter. in my experience, i have found that they're of a cheap build quality, rust quickly, and make the engine sound VERY raspy. i'm considering ordering a header for the Falcon. i think it would help the engine to breathe better and improve the longevity of the engine!

make the engine sound VERY raspy

What does that mean?

improve the longevity of the engine

How?

by allowing the engine to breathe better, and being less restrictive, imo, it has the potential for better and smoother running, thus longevity of the engine is increased.

raspy, well a lot of times i have heard headers or a header in this case that will make an engine have a tinny or raspy sound to it. in that case often times a resonator is installed. i was just making sure when a header is installed on the 170, the engine will not sound raspy.

you will need to post pix if you get it, before, during and after pix :) i have been thinking of v8'n my car but my little 200 is actually fun to drive :) jsut make it abit more ummm, umphhh in it will be good..
