Help needed. How do you remove lifters in a ford 200. The book I have says use a magnet to remove, however , I belive there is too much varnish or someting to prevent removal. I have even tried to grasp the edge with needle nose pliers, but no go. Any thoughts, Thanks :D

assuming you have the head off of course, you may need to use a lifter removal tool. I think Sears has a reasonably priced one. The lifters get a nice ring around their bottom and it takes some force to get them out, only a tool can do that from the top side.

My local Advance Auto Parts carries a lifter removal tool also.

It has two "lips" that you squeeze together, insert into the top of the lifter. When you let go the lips catch the inside of the lifter and should give you enough grip to pull it out.

Thanks for your help, I will go to autozone today to see if I can aquire the tool needed. I had no clue such a tool was on the market.
