Holley 390 cfm on Xflow ?

I am using a Edelbrock 500 cfm on my 200 crossflow, and when I put my foot into it ( which is often ) the motor hesitates, I have changed the metering rods and jets and still does it. I was wondering if i should switch to a Holley 390cfm with vac. secondaries ? Will this carb fit ? I have a Redline 4brl. manifold, can I use either manual or electric choke,or are there clearance problems ? Thanks ,Mike

hey
large carby's on small engine's will hesitate due to low air speed in the carby a 4bbl will help fix it.
or alternatively a smaller cerby like a webber 38/38 work well.

the holley will fit.maybe you could try an adapter plate (4 barrel in 2 barrel) and go a 350 holley 2 barrel, there a good carb with a choice of manual or auto choke.shouldnt have any clearance probs with it.you can jet 350's up or down and are a good carb for your motor.does your motor have a cam/work etc?

The motor has a Crow # 14892 cam ,alum. roller rockers, springs, some head work, flat top pistons, I just tried a 390 cfm Holley with elec. choke and it hits on the rocker cover ?do I need a carb spacer ?Or what do I need to do to make it fit ?Like I said before It is a 200 Crossflow with a Redline 4 brl. intake. Mike

ok your in usa i didnt see that before.id try a 1" or 2" carb spacer and it should miss the rocker cover.i have a redline manifold on mine but i pulled the choke off it so i dont have that problem.i dont realy think a choke on a holley is necessary, but others would disagree :)

WOULD THE CARB FIT IF IT WAS PUT ONN SIDEWAYS ? YOU COULD USE AN EDELBROCK TUNNEL RAM ADAPTOR PLATE TO MOUNT IT ON SIDE WAYS.

It should be on sideways anyways!!!! Secondary fuel bowl towards valve cover, choke towards firewall...Best for fuel/air distribution..
