I have recently discovered that my 66 mustang 200 six CA smog equipped has the "wrong" Autolite 1100 SCV carb in it. The smog distribution is a Non loadomatic distributor. So, making plans for an upgrade.
I plan to upgrade the the DSII distributor.
An easy bolt on choice would be to trade carbs with Pony (they were very helpful, by the way) and keep the present dizzy, all is stock. The car is a very nice stock convertible. Because we are in MN, it really is unique, and I want to try and keep the smog equipment.
The questions:
Will the stock non-loado distributor work well with the DSII? Would I take the vacuum off the carb port, or the intake?
I'm thinking of going to the 5200 Holley Weber, adaptor plate, throttle cable linkage. I see that ebay has remanufactured units from 1979-1981 ford six engines for a reasonable price. Will the 5200's from these later model years be a good mate on my '66 six with the DSII? Where to take the vacuum line on this setup?
If the later model year 5200's are not a good mate, what years should I look for?
Has anyone modified the stock snorkel style air cleaner to mate with the 5200 carb?
thanks.
