i just got another six. this time it's a 170 in a 65 ranchero. will the dsII swap work on the 170? if so what are some of the things i will run into?

the duraspark is too big to fit in the block, also the oil pump driveshaft will be too small, so youll have to put in a later oil pump and driveshaft.

Howdy Back:

The question is what year is your block casting?

If the block casting is a C4, or '64, a DS II will not be an easy upgrade, because of the hole size and drive shaft differences Patrick stated.

If your '65 is a later casting, either C5 or C6, the later distributor should be a direct swap-in.

Check out your block casting #. Does this 170 have hydraulic lifters or solid?

it is c6. and i am not sure about the lifters. i believe they are hydraulic

Howdy back:

A DS II swap should work fing in a C6 170 block. Only the usual stuff to consider. Like upgrading the carb to a non-SCV type.
