I finally got time and energy to pull the head again. I used a NAPA compoisite gasket and my new Holley replacement carb. It started right up tonight and the carb performed flawlessly right out of the box. Whee! I took a compression test before I even tried to start it and the number 3 cylender was a little low, but not alarmingly so. I drove it around tonight for a few miles and it's good. The next trick is to see if the gasket holds up more than 500 miles. I checked the the block and head for warpage the straight edge and feeler guage trick and it seemed ok. cross fingers and see how far it gets this time........................johnny
