Just got my E0 rebuilt head

Looks pretty good on initial inspection.

Part of the reason I opted for a head swap was broken exhaust bolt ears on my C6 head. I figured saving the cost of a non guaranteed repair was a great rationalization toward upgrading to bigger valves and volume.

Well, I got it today from Clearwater Heads in FL. They are fast and inexpensive. $225 including the .075 milling (I ordered it last Weds, got it the following Monday)

Anyway, I notice right away that 2 of the exhaust bolt holes have been reworked with Helix type replacement threads.

This is my first experience with a reworked head and the first time I've ever seen Helix crap on a rebuilt part. Is this par for the course or should I be pissed off, like I think I should???

I'm gonna look at everything on this head alot closer.

I am not suprised...I have always had troubles with frozen up exhaust bolts on these motors....and them breaking...

I had to drill out a broken off bolt on my E0 head (top rear hole...which is a through hole) and ended up taking out the threads so might just use a bolt/nut or coil it.

the fact they put a coil it in shows they care
