I picked this up from a parts hoarder a week or two ago. The seller didn't know much about it, he'd bought it from a junkyard many years ago. The typical yellow junkyard paint on it looks like "74 MAV", so the head was probably from a 1974 Maverick if it matters. This head doesn't have much rust on it, and the valves aren't frozen. If it isn't cracked it should be rebuildable. I've already got a couple spare large log heads, and a new lead on another one a couple blocks away. I let my spare adjustable and non-adjustable rocker assemblies go with the last head I sold. So all I wanted from this one was a new spare rocker assembly and to see if I could turn it into something I did want. And what I want for this head is $50 and a good set of ball and cup adjustable rocker pushrods. Yes, I could clean it up and get it checked for cracks. But then the price will go up a lot. I really don't want to ship it either. The head is located in southern Minnesota not far north of I 90 right on I 35. I'm retired, so pretty much any time is a good time to pick it up. And if I’ve still got it then, there’s a free early 170 head you can have too!

I'll be in the Black Hills on vacation in August if anyone wants to meet up there to get this. If you don't have a pushrod set the all cash price is $200. I can buy some pushrods for that.

I know we are almost done with August now, have you already been to the black hills? I have family in Wyoming that may be able to meet up if not my wife has some corporate shipping connections that may be able to grab it

:banghead: I just got back a few days ago! So close...

I just picked up 20 pushrods for $10, so I won't be needing money to buy new ones now. All cash price for the head reduced to $150.

I was cleaning some other parts so I scraped off the worst of the muck on this head too. No visible cracks in the usual places. I don’t have a lot of shipping options in this little town. But I asked at the post office the other day and they said it’s not too heavy for them. I’ll get a cost estimate next week maybe. I can’t lift it into my car or carry it into the post office but I guess I can find some help. Here’s some more pictures too.

So, I've been back to the Post Office. While they will ship it, it ain't gonna be cheap. $150 out to California, a little more with insurance. Ouch!

Note: I have since sold the head so this combined offer is no longer operative. You can still have the seat for $350 though. No shipping!

If it makes a long drive more worthwhile to somebody - I’ve also got a black 1965 upholstery pattern early Mustang front bench seat that I’ve stored for too long. The relatively soft vinyl and foam makes me think they’re replacements. Lots of little dings and the one big rip pictured, but not junk. Has the tracks too. $500 for the head and the seat picked up at my house.
